Gangotri – The Origin of the Ganga | Char Dham Yatra Guide
From Yamunotri, my journey carried me to Gangotri, the source of the holy Ganges. The sound of the river echoes like a mantra, and the temple town feels alive with devotion.
π Spiritual Importance:
Gangotri is dedicated to Goddess Ganga, the mother of mankind. According to legend, Lord Shiva released the mighty Ganga from his matted locks here, allowing her descent to Earth. Pilgrims believe a visit cleanses lifetimes of sins, as the Ganga is considered the ultimate purifier of body and soul.
